Vikings and Teapots.

This is me dressed up before the school ball as Freya, goddess of the north. This is also me before ingesting a particularly potent and delicious honey mead. By the way, I am wearing black wings.
Our next door neighbours and viking worshippers. Savage and cute.
This is the teapot I quietly crocheted on the couch the day after the night of honey mead.
And I made this little fella too, another Stanley.
Gaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh - we are coming towards the wettest winter on record since 1953. Today was supposed to be sunny so I hung two loads of washing out, the sky looked, laughed and dumped a whole bucket of water upon my efforts.... I know I shouldn't take it personally but sometimes it is hard not to.
Lots of love,

Pieces of Home.

Today I thought I would take you on a little house tour. This is the view from my side of the bed... wings and a tutu.
This is the view from Archie's bed - books he has read and books he is reading. A good little collection methinks.
I love this scene - we do live on a dairy farm....
A tulip flowering in the garden.
Hugo's bedroom door - he thought hanging a lantern on the door would be a special touch.
And once again, back to my tutu.
Have a lovely weekend,

Wings and Other Things.

Finally Christmas Tree Angel Fairy Girl - perhaps not the best name in the world - is complete. I love here so much and it will be a little hard to say goodbye but I am sure she will go to a good home. I also must keep in mind that it is for a good cause.
Jonno isn't wearing his viking helmet with the flowers wrapped around it - they are for my hair... but I kind of wish they were for his costume.
Lots of love,

Vikings!!!

Jonno and I are going to a medieval ball dressed as Vikings. I was going to make very traditional costumes but then I saw this fur at Spotlight and decided to go for a more Abba inspired version.  We also have silver tunics, white vinyl, feathers, white fluffy trims. Thank goodness Jonno is such a good sport.
I painted up Jonno's helmet today - I didn't even know it was possible but Dominique has painted her's and it looks amazing.
Isn't that just the best combination!
Thanks for the beautiful flowers Gran Gran....
And these are two of my photos ready to be taken to an exhibition....  the first one I have ever been a part of... Opening night is on Thursday and I can't wait.
Lots of love,

Origami Yoda and a touch of Viking.

My daffodils have opened - they are such a joyful splash of colour in the house, especially with the torrential weather we are having. Will we ever be able to wear clean, dry clothes again?
Archie and his cousin Will are wild about a new series of books, the first is called 'The Strange Case of Origami Yoda' and includes instructions on how to make your own venerable sage. Will is having a wonderful year of travel and has sent us photos of his Yoda from the Golden Gate Bridge and France. We did receive a very sad email from him a couple of days ago saying that his Yoda died in an accident involving a pocket and a washing machine. He has however, since been reborn with a different set of instructions which can be found here.
Dominique came over for a cup of tea today and casually sketched out some costume designs for the medieval ball we are going to next weekend. I love them!!! The best thing about going as a viking horde is that you can wear ug boots.

This photo has been taken with a big thanks to Stef... She has the most beautiful collection of doorknobs and has completely inspired me to change my kitchen knobs. It will be a slow project though as I will only be able to purchase a few each month.... we have lots of drawers and cupboards.
Have a lovely day/night.

Unicorns, Knights and Planets.

I recently went to a party as a unicorn ballerina and made myself a special headband. I think it looks much better on my niece than it ever did on me. My nephew is looking pretty fancy in the background.
The boys have been getting into paper knights lately - I must admit that I have probably been playing with them a little more than the boys have.
And this is my big boy working on a school project - turning an old piece of farm equipment ( a ballcock) into Mars. I really love school projects like this.

Crocheted Flowers and Lego.

I am making myself a floral garland to wear to the school ball - I am going to be some kind of viking-fairy so will have to crochet some horns to nestle amongst the flowers. I have made up a very easy daffodil pattern so will post it soon.

Hugo has been working very hard on this lego creation... using, as Archie will tell you, Archie's very best Lego pieces. Hugo is very keen for this to end up on pinterest so I will be putting the odd Lego photo on and then pin it. If you feel like it you could pin it too - or even leave Hugo a message about how much you like his Lego building. He is so proud.
I love little hands making things.

Crochet Jar Covers.

At the moment, everything I make seems to be for either the silent auction at the school ball or costumes for the school play. Which is good. I thought a crocheted jar with Spring flowers might be a nice little treat for someone to take home. Here is the finished product having a good test run.
It works - do you think it would be wrong to keep trialling it until the ball?

Ballerinas, lemons, velvet ribbons and golden light. Need I say more.
Have a wonderful weekend,

Traveling Bags.

This week has been spent very much out and about. Wherever I go, I always take an emergency bag with me, you never know if a few spare moments may crop up and it is essential to be prepared. Scissors, lip balm, moisturiser (Jurlique rose hand cream), needles, hooks, yarn and current projects.
Here is a ballerina rabbit I finished this morning.
Most of the time spent making this was in front of the t.v. last night watching 'Black Swan'. I loved it and particularly enjoyed not watching it with Jonno.  I am pretty sure that this bunny is channeling the white swan... fingers crossed.
Lots of love,
Kate xxooxx.

Angel/Fairy/Girl....

I made more progress on the angel/fairy/girl over the weekend whilst snuggling on the couch with the boys watching Star Wars for the first time.  I never knew that I was a Star Wars fan but it turns out that I am. As I was watching fight scenes with the light sabers, I found myself thinking how useful they would be for cutting paper into amazing shapes and patterns.
All I now need to do is sew on her wings and flowers.
Then she will be ready for a silent auction at our school ball. See how she has her dancing shoes on....
Hope you had a great weekend,
Love Kate xxooxx.

Papier Mache and Things.

This is getting ridiculous - only posting on Fridays at the moment. Well, next week I will have to get my act together and sort out my life a little more. Although, I have to say that this week my cousin/sister-in-law and family left the country for France and every spare minute was put into loving them as much as I could before they went.
Do you like the logo I have crocheted for my hairdresser? I am off to give it to him in a moment.... I can't wait to see it hanging.
Yesterday my friend Mandy came over with a tiny head wrapped in a cloth... a little while ago I gave her a papier mache ball to paint up as a face. So, last night I sat down and started crocheting madly. I am soooo happy with the hair and now can't wait to start on the body.
Better fly to my appointment,
Love Kate xxooxx.
